Idaho Chess Championship of 2011

Last Saturday through Monday was the Idaho Chess Championship of 2011 which was held in Twin Falls! Caleb and his chess buddy Caleb Kircher both went to the event with good attitudes. They had 6 total games throughout all three day. (two each day) Each game had a time control of 2 hours aside and after 30 moves, both players would receive 1 more hour. That means that each game could go on for up to 6 hours, but most of them only went to 4-5 hours.

Caleb got Overall Champion with 5 out of 6 points! He is now the Idaho Sate Champion of Idaho for 2011!

Christmas 2010

We had a very good Christmas this year! We read the Christmas story out of Luke and talked about it before opening presents. We had a full Christmas dinner with Turkey, stuffing, seven layer salad, potatoes, green beans, and gravy! Here are some pictures of our Christmas!

Nathan had to go to work right after presents so he didn't get to enjoy Lunch with us.

Spending Christmas Eve at the Fox's House

We were graciously invited to the Fox's house for Christmas Eve! We went through a Bible devotion about Christmas and talked about Christmas and what it means to us. Then we sang a couple of Christmas Carols with the Fox girls accompanying us with their instruments. We talked and eat snacks they provided after the devotion. We played this awesome game (mostly cause it is all about whacking people with newspaper!) called Animals. And then we played four on a couch in which my team (Megan, Morgan, Leah, and I) won! We had to leave, because Noah was getting sleepy. A big thank you goes out to the Foxs!

Animals:

1.Everyone picks a animal that they are going to be and the sound that it makes (i.e. Dog - Ruff)

2.Pick someone to be it and he will stand in the middle, and the rest will sit in a circle around the person.

3.Someone sitting in the circle will say a sound of an animal that was picked by the other players.

4.Whomever's sound was said now has to say another animal sound before the person in the middle hits them with the newspaper stick.

5.Repeat 3 and 4 until someone is hit before saying a sound.

6.The person who got hit is now it and the one that was it will now sit down where the person who got it was

7. Before the person sits down, they must call out a sound or else the now it person can hit them and they are it again

8.If a person says the animal sound of the it person, then that person is now it

Mom and Dad's Birthday

Dad had his Birthday on the 2nd of this month and my mom had hers on the 11th! For Dad’s special treat we had stuffed mushrooms, and Dad got Mom a dozen of roses for mom’s gift! Here are some pictures of them.

Thanksgiving!

This is quite a bit late but here we go! My family and I spent time with each other on Thanksgiving. We made the dinner together and let mom rest after making the Turkey. Our dinner was fabulous, like always, with dressing, seven layer salad, mash potatoes, green beans with dried French onions on them, Turkey, and the Pumpkin and Pecan pie! We played with each other the rest of the day. We also got around to playing one of our favorite board games, Settlers of Catan, which Bethany ended up winning fair and square. You can see more pictures here.

English Country Dancing at the Idaho Historical Museum

Bethany and I were asked to be apart of some dancing at the Idaho Historical Museum's Fund raiser with the Idaho Civil War Volunteers. It was last Saturday at 6:30pm - 9:30pm! The Museum provided refreshments and all we had to do it dance! It was a very fun and exhausting evening!

Idaho Historical Museum Comes to Life

Today Bethany and I were apart of the Museum comes to life with the ICWV (Idaho Civil War Volunteers). There were booths set up for all kinds of different eras! It was a really neat experience to be apart of. We also did some ECD (English Country Dancing) while we were there as apart to the display.

Leah's Birthday Party

Happy 8th Birthday Leah! We went to Settlers Park to have Leah's Birthday party. They had fun getting wet and playing around on the playground. Bethany made a wonderful cake for Leah. She spent a whole day on it and it looks amazing!

Leah loves her Doodle pad and draws in it when ever she has spare time!

Cute Little Noahy!

Doesn't that look really good?

Oh and it tasted really good too! :D

CERT

I got a pretty nasty looking wound on my arm!

I was helping out a CERT training team by being a victim! It was so awesome to get all fixed up and bloody. I think that the CERT team went pretty slow and needs more work.

4th of July

I always love celebrating the 4th of July!!! This year we went over to the Prices' house to celebrate. We had fun playing Ultimate Frisbee, Eating, and just fellowshipping with each other. After it got dark we started up the fireworks. It was really fun to see them go off! All of us just love those little 'throw it on the ground and they go pop' crackers!

Eagle Island Civil War Reenactment

Last week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday was a Civil War Reenactment put on by the Idaho Civil War Volunteers. Bethany, Michaela and I (Caleb) went and volunteered and helped out where they needed it. The weather was a lot better than last year. It didn't rain but it wasn't sunny until Saturday.

Cute little Noah!

They would fire the cannon off every few hours so that all of the kids could see it in action.

No Photoshop editing here!

Matt was the drill instructor and tried to teach the volunteer group how to drill. He really plays the part really well. To put it in perspective, I was the best one besides Matt that knew the drills. When he made me go in front of him and go a couple commands, my knees were shaking while I was doing it. :)

It was really fun because when Matt would ask one of the girls how to load a rifle, she would end up laughing and then Matt would end up laughing as well.
